My wife stood under our tree, looking up at the moon. All but a sliver was glowing reddish orange. There was no way my camera would get me a usable shot. I decided to photoshop something instead.
So I did.

Eclipse
There are a couple images of the 2010 Lunar Eclipse circulating the internet right now. Even if you didn't wake your children up to see the eclipse last night, this is a excellent opportunity to discuss some very interesting things, such as:
- What is an eclipse?
- Why does the moon look red?
- Speaking of red moons, let's look at some Scripture passages which feature a red moon.
- There's also plenty of fascinating topics to discuss when it comes to winter solstice, such as history, astronomy, religion, agriculture, physics and more.
- You could also discuss the long periods of time between eclipses. Sadly, despite the few hints which piqued my interest, I yet to find a good article on this topic.
Did you get up to see the eclipse?

We sure did! My teenagers stayed up on the couch while the younger ones slept. We all rolled out of bed at midnight and headed outside. The light clouds has moved on and we had a perfectly clear sky. What a wonderful show from God! If this had been a different time, the moon being kidnapped on the longest night of the year, I think there would have been a human sacrifice. I'm glad Christianity got rid of all that.

<smile> Glad you had a clear sky, Mia!
I'm sorry you didn't have the same luxury, Angela. Bummer.

After a very snowy day and cloudy skies, while in Lake Tahoe, we finally had a lovely clear night to watch the moon...plus a perfect view from our hotel window. Come 10.30pm-ish (the time the eclipse was supposed to begin for us west coasters) though, the moon disappeared behind the hotel. Sigh...it was way too cold to go look outside so we wimped out. I love the photshop-ed photo though. :)
Merry Christmas to you Luke!
Thanks, Suji! And a happy new year to you as well. <smile>
