Sonlight Rewards Badge

My mom asked me to create a link for her to the Sonlight Rewards Program.

Great idea!

I created the graphic, added it to my blog, sent her the code and thought, 'If my mom wants this for her blog, perhaps others out there want it too.'

So I added a badge for Sonlight Rewards to the Widgets page. Here's the super cool thing: If you are logged into your Sonlight Account while on the Widgets page, your Rewards ID code is automatically included in the HTML.

Say what?

Log into your Sonlight account. Copy the Rewards badge HTML. Add it to your blog/website. A visitor who clicks on it will automatically be brought to the friendly "create an account to save money" page. And if he or she creates an account then, you'll earn points on his or her first purchase.

So cool!

Unfortunately, Facebook does not let you use HTML on your Facebook page.

But wait!

There is something on the Widgets page for you, faithful Facebook fans! That's right: New Flair, now with the twenty-ten logo.

Luke, I would really like to see something printable--a flyer. I sell on eBay and would love to include some sort of flyer with the orders I ship out encouraging people to use Sonlight. Is this something you'd consider?

Cool! I had no idea I had a rewards number. Fun!

Yay! I love new badges and flair!

Brenda, we do have a printable sheet. Just go to and click on the graphic under "Your Sonlight® Rewards Cards" and it will download a .pdf to your computer with your Rewards ID code on it. But if you'd like something else, please let me know! We're always looking for ways to help <smile>.

Erin, new fun things to play with everyday <smile>.

Glad to hear it, Missy! <smile>

Luke, the cards are handy for handing to someone in person or carrying around in a purse or wallet (and I've used them), but what I am looking for is something that would fill an 8.5 X 11 sheet (or two to a sheet). Something that is more like a flyer (but only a single page). A card is something I have to take extra time to staple onto an invoice, but a flyer I can just toss into the packages I ship out.

I had rigged something up on another computer that I was using, but that computer is down and being repaired.

I'm thinking something with the Sonlight logo, something giving a brief plug for Sonlight (and given my buyers...something that attracts anyone interested in buying great books) and the referral link. Something attractive enough that when someone receives one of my packages and is pulling out their purchase and invoice, they'll be drawn to reading the Sonlight promo flyer as well.

I know there are a lot of moms like me who sell on eBay or Etsy who could probably use something like this!

Just wanted to add...a couple reasons I don't want to use the cards for this purpose is their size AND the lack of info to a general onlooker who I don't have the benefit of being able to converse with. A card I had to someone I've already been talking with. A flyer is more something of a cold-call. And a small business card is something easily lost in a package with other products and sometimes packing material.

Fantastic idea, Brenda! Thanks for passing that along. We are super busy with preparing for the catalog at the moment, but I will see what I can do to get something together in the next couple weeks. Because, yeah... I can totally see the need <smile>.

Hi Luke,

I have a widget related question I wasn't sure where to post. I had uploaded the badges widget to our blog but it is no longer working, even though the code is still there and I can no longer find it in the widgets page in the SL site. Is this widget no longer available?

Luke Holzmann said...

Marie, I haven't removed any Widgets from the Widgets page and when I visited your blog it looks like the badges are still there and working...

We did server maintenance a couple weeks ago, which would have made the images disappear for a while, but you shouldn't be experiencing problems now.

Please email me if the badge still isn't showing up and I'll try to help you further.

Thank you for your reply Luke. Actually I war referring to the one that shows what Cores, Science etc. we currently own from SL (the one that shows up under our Avatar in the forums). I can't seem to remember where I had found it in the SL website. When I hit "Customize" I see the gadget I had set up but when I view the blog it does not show up.

Ah, I see, Marie. Thanks for bringing that up. We missed that in our recent server switch. We'll work on getting it back up and running again ASAP.

Thanks for letting us know!
