We're Ready to Roll!

Initial Impressions

Getting the first shot is always really difficult. In fact, one of my fellow classmates in college made a documentary on getting the first shot. He took footage on a set while they set up for, I think, around eight hours before they finally moved to the second shot they needed.

What?!

Yeah. That's filmmaking. And I realized, after the fact, that I was a little brief yesterday. We were able to solve quite a few problems, such as: Getting the lights to no longer reflect in the whiteboard or off the books on the bookcase, position the table properly, and generally reduce Justin's reflection on the whiteboard.

And this morning, we had another issue to resolve:

Ironing the Lab Coat

The "oh no" you hear from Amber at the end there... that was the iron staining the coat.

Yeah. Filmmaking.

Once we got going, and Justin got his "groove" back, things went quite well. Some very funny stuff... which is good. We know others are going to like the DVD when we're rolling with laughter while we make it.

And one of the things that I find funny is that somehow Justin's face tends to end up perfectly behind the "white balance" icon on my screen.

Hope it goes smoother tomorrow, Luke. I like the setup... not too school-y, but bummer it's not a national park. :]

Love the ironing disaster - it is so true of life in general last minute glitches just arise! I am enjoying this "preview" and can't wait for it to be real!

Now just to totally freak you out I would love more science DVD's they just stop! But I know my grade 5 and 6 and most likely se7en curriculums will be greatly enhanced by their input - GREATLY!!! (Like when we don't get round to an experiment for a fair while I can say let's watch the DVD...). I know horrors that a Sonlight mom might not actually do every experiment... but let's just say: These would GREATLY ENHANCE our schooling!

Mrs. C, yes, shooting in a nation park would be great <smile>. Glad you like the setup. Have you seen any of the MathTacular DVDs yet? Watched a trailer... or two... or thee?

Se7en, that is great feedback about another science DVD <smile>. And I'm sure it would be useful--and loved--but we haven't gotten around to producing those yet. And we'd have to change our style a little for the upper grades <smile>. Thanks for the encouragement!

I'm glad you are having fun while making the DVD. The fun you guys have always comes through and makes the whole thing more enjoyable,

Heather, that is what we think too. We've often stopped when we hit a rough patch to remind ourselves that if we're not having fun, the DVD won't be fun.

Luke, check out your links!! Associated videos are about the endtimes as relates to swine flu, tattoos and Obama the AntiChrist.

Your video has some interesting company.

Ok, the actual trailers? Look like a LOT of fun to make and watch.

Mrs. C, hmm... I don't show those related videos, but that is funny <smile>. Glad you liked them!
